I had an electrical problem in my 02 Civic EX... i ended up needing to replace the ECU (got one from a junk yard... from another 02 EX)... I had to have it re-flashed at the dealership to work with my security codes. Now my check engine light is on and it's reporting an O2 sensor failure... i have replaced the O2 sensor and cleared the code, but it came back on and is reporting the same code again. I checks the wires running from the O2 sensor to the ECU and it there is no signal... do you think it might be the ECU itself, or maybe just the software flash wasn't correct (e.g. for a non-vTec motor or LX or DX model)

my 98 civic ex had the same ordeal. i guess the transmission was originally from a diff. model LX or DX is why the sensor was always going off and even after i got a new tranny the car still beeps loudly when first started because these cars are just like that.but the check engine light at least stays off now.

I apparently am having the same problem. When I put my reader on the car, it indicated a malfunction in the EGR valve. I took the car to my mechanic and he tested the same thing, but his reading showed that it was too lean and it had to do with the Oxygen sensor. The Sensor was 170 dollars and with 1 other item the bill came to 298 dollars. that was a couple of weeks ago and now the Check engine light has returned to full brightness. It is due for an oil change, if you want to write to me in a couple days, I will tell you the outcome. It is a 2000 Toyota Carol la fully loaded.
