No, it is AWD. there is no way to disconnect the front drive from the rear. It doesn't have a true transfercase where front and rear drives are engaged. It is simple a center differential which splits the torque to front and back. This is bad for mileage, it also doens't have a center diff lock, so it will not get as good of traction as a true 4x4. It works great for wet or icy roads though.

I believe that you can switch it from awd to 2wd like they used on the old civic 4wd. there is a switch on the transmission to disengage the rear wheels in case the car needs to be towed. CHeck under your hood for a sticker that tells you how to do it.
