The same reason that the word "phonetic" isn't spelled the way that it sounds, and that stores open 24 hours have locks on the doors, and that fools fall in love--there are some things we weren't meant to know.

for the same reason why there are floatation devices under the seats of airplanes instead of parachutes. aaaahhh the world makes sense now doesnt it?

24 hr. stores have locks because------------they are open 24 hrs.---------- but not in a row !!!!Asfor the original ???--------why not ??When you come to a fork in the road take it

Sometimes America doesn't make sense. Just like having mailboxes outside the post office...you are already there. Or why there are most wanted signs in the police department, the one place you won't spot the criminal. When the sign says "curb" your dog, does that mean that's where they are suppose to park it? Why are there tolls on freeways? You see America just doesn't make sense.

Why do overlook and oversee mean opposite things?Why is the man who invests all your money called a broker?Why is a person who plays the piano called a pianist but a person who drives a race car not called a racist?
