Default 1995 Honda Passport, Steering noise?

We have a 1995 passport that has a loud humming/rubbing noise coming from what sounds like the steering column. It tends to really only make the noise when turning to the left while driving. There is alot of play in the steering too. Anyone have any ideas? Sticking calipers on the brakes wouldn't cause that noise either would it?

You may just have low power steering fluid, - or you could have come kind of problem with the "steering rack", or steering "gear box". These are the two main types of steering setups used in cars! If you have the steering box, rather than "rack", - it may still be adjustable to get the "play" out! However Have somebody turn the wheel back and forth, - while you look down where the steering column hooks to the "steering" under the hood" There is a "flexible coupling" there that connects to steering stuff, if it is bad there will be play in the wheel even if the rest of steering s tight! -- If you have "rack and pionion" steering, there is very little adjustment that can be done, --and if it is bad, -it will nave to be replaced!
