My emergency brake light (not ABS) came on yesterday at random and didn't turn off until late in the day. Today it randomly turned on again and won't turn off. I'm positive the handle is all the way down and it doesn't make noise, doesn't have trouble accelerating, isn't guzzling gas. It seems like nothing is wrong at all. Does this mean there is something else I need to have checked?1995 Honda CivicFor any future answerers:I have pressed down on it... pulled it up and disengaged it over and over (like I said I've been driving it and parking it). There might be build up as Chatter said. There is nothing stuck under the handle, I looked. As for break fluid and pads, that should make the ABS light come on yes? I thought the e-brake light was only for the e-brake.

I had the same problem with my 96 Neon. But I noticed that I was loosing break pressure. In other words, my break pedal was gummy feeling and it was pushed all the way down on the floor in order for the car to stop. It turned out to be a bad wheel cylinder. So I was loosing break fluid all over the place. So I would have your breaks checked out. I hope this helps.

The brake fluid is low and is causing the light to come on. Either you have a leak(unlikely) or the pads are getting low(likely). The ABS light will not come on if the fluid is low, only the e brake light does. Top up fluid and then have brakes checked.

I'm pretty sure it's just a sensor, the 95 has drum brakes in the back I'm almost positive and it could be something as simple as a spring in the drum is off.Does the brake work? If it does then that means that something is just stuck and it shouldn't be too problematic. Sometimes during temperature changes sensors also act erratically. Get it checked out either way.

check your brake fluid...that brake lite will light when the e brake is up or the master cylinder is low on fluid.....or the sensor thats in the mastercylindr has gone bad the only time the abs light will light up is when there is a problem with the abs system...not common on any honda but the 97 odysseys
