Default How would I sand the surface cracks on my carbon fiber hood without ruining the hood itself?

there are several "spider web" cracks on the surface and its also faded from the sun

try using a 2 part epoxy filler and then and then sand it down. I am assuming that it is unpainted I do not know how the finished product will look. I have never done it on cars, however work on carbon fiber on aircraft. Hopefully this helped.

I used to be a class B car painter in the 80's. What I would do is water sand all the surface of the hood with light water sandpaper with a rubber block. Then clean those cracks with something very pointed using some air pressure to remove all dirt. Apply primer, let dry. Apply putty in those cracks with hand pressure and let dry " it must be very dry", Sand over again with the block flat and repeat if necessary. You can repeat as much as necessary. Once your hood is all nice and smooth including those cracks proceed with primer, sand and paint.
