i am thinking of buying a 1996 honda accord and i dont know how long it will lastit has 166k miles on it. and a body kit and newer rims. is it worth $5000? i dont want to spend all my money then have the car die

They last a long time - if you take care of them - or for that matter any car will do what it can but hondas have great mileage expectancy.

you will probably not be able to get an answer for this but it would have alot to do with the maintenance of the vehicle. did the previous owner take care of the car, not beat the car, do all the regular scheduled maintenance on the car. these are things that would make a difference in the length of time will last, not mileage

Its not unusual to see 300,000 miles,however how will the rest of the car hold up? Hondas seem to rust badly right behind the rear wheelwell,and this is not fixable.It opens right into the trunk.You can have a wonderful running 200,000 mile car,but if its rusted out or other things are falling apart...all you have is an engine.

A silly question because it depends on the service record, how the car was driven, the climate, etc.

as long u take care of it and not pound on it either it should last up to 300-350 thousand miles no joke

no.. I bought a 95 with 99K on it for under 4K. if it was well maintained, it may go to 200K plus, but I would spend my money on a new, lower mileage civic or something. The 96 Accords were dogs anyway in terms of horsepower and fuel economy
