My engine in my 03 Civic (1.7L) Is sounding like a sowing machine more so than normal. It sounds like it's coming from the valves. I know they sound like sowing machines any way but the noise happen'd instantly. I tried the fuel injector cleaning crap but it didn't help it any. Anybody?I use Premium unleaded change the oil every 2800 miles. It also has a cold air intake. it happend when I hit a puddle going out of my friends driveway. i was going 5mph when i hit it so i could make it through, but it was still enough to get muddy water on th bottom side of the drivers side hood.

when was the last time your oil was changed? with honda's and acura's that's a typical sound but with ur car being so new it could be a multiple of things like... (bad gas-low octane rating I would try 93 and see if it goes away? you might have to get your valves adjusted. I hope it's still under warr. good luck

sounds like u ruined your engine by putty that cold air intake on...honda has a service news out about not installing them becuase they can suck water in the engine and litterly kill it....from how it sounds thats what your looking at...but take it to your dealer to be sure

its coming from the block, its excessive piston slap cause by the intake of water into the combustion chamber causing the piston to hydro lock, time for a new block ,to be sure check your oil and see if their mixed with water it should look like milk

There are two types of air intakes, Cold Air Intakes (CAIs) or Short Ram Intakes. Unfortunately Cold Air Intakes are susceptible to ingesting water into the intake manifold and ruining your engine. Some manufacturers have created a bypass valve so that when water enters the intake it causes a vacuum and the valve opens up air in the engine compartment and drops the water that was in the lower section of the CAI. You'll need to take it to the Honda dealer and have them check out your valve adjustments and see if there's anything else they can do about the water ingesting. Sorry for your luck with the car.
