The highest end models of the Honda Odyssey advertise a cylinder cut-off that increases gas mileage (20/28 vs. 19/25). Do these numbers bear out in the real world? We are planning on doing mostly city driving, and wondering if the more effecient model would be worth it.

Well, bear in mind that these numbers come from tests that the government uses. The tests are definitely not real world conditions, so you may not get as good gas mileage as claimed on any car. I'm sure you would get better gas mileage with the fuel feature, but as you can see from the comparison, not a whole lot of difference. As far as the feature you are referring to, we have it on our Pilot and there is no drop off in performance at all. I wouldn't buy the top of the line vehicle simply for this feature, however, because the mpg difference is less signifcant than what you'd pay for the trim package. If the other options that come with the top of the line trim package are features you'd like, by all means by the higher end model.
