Default Which model and year for a honda civic should i get?

I want to get a honda civic. I want an automatic. I need one that i can fit a rack on and that i can fit a snowboard into if i have to. Which year and model would you recommend? I can't get anything newer than 1998 and i don't plan to spend more than 5,000.Look optionNFA i'm getting a Honda ok? They don't suck. My Dad has gone with Honda for many years and his cars have always been great. They run forever.Sorry but i've already made up my mind. I'm getting a honda.

Look around, but get the newest one you can afford and with the lowest miles!

I'm with oldsohm73...get the most recent model that your money can buy, and get one with the fewest miles.Look at Consumer Reports and carmax.com (amongst other sites, there are plenty out there) before you ever head to a dealership. Get an idea for what you can get for your money. Good Luck! :-)

Get whatever one you can afford. Its a great car... We just traded one with 250,000 miles on it, and it still ran great!

They are good cars, but you will probably be hard pressed to find a 1998 or newer for under $5,000 unless it has over 150,000 miles. My friend has a 1998 EX with 90,000 miles and it blue books for $7K private party in good shape. The 1998 LX, which is a more basic model will be around $6K. Look for something around a 1996 or 1997 with under 100K miles. It should be under $5K for the LX and around $5K for the EX. If you are looking for basic stuff like A/C, pick the LX. The EX adds the sunroof and the alloy wheels, etc.
