What does it mean when the D4 light in my prelude flashes? There are times when it wont start ...?

and then this light starts to flash when it does start.Thank you!!!

d4 light usually falshes continously when there is a problem detected in the trans system by the control unit, it might not be related to the starting problem, you might have two seperate problems
