There's a good chance that water leaked through the ventilation system. Most of the ventilation system components are on the passenger side, since there are no pedals to deal with. There is an air intake in the cowl area, which can sometimes get swamped with water in deluge conditions. That sounds like what happened in your CR-V. You might want to take a look under the hood in the cowl area to see if there is a gap or if there are any clogged drains. There are drains in this area to drain water away and they can get clogged with leaves and twigs.

You have a seal leaking someplace, and I'd say its one of 3 places. First place...windshield seal. might have to get an autoglass place to check on it...probably cost 80 dollars.Second place...Door seal/window seals. open the door and check the rubber seal around the door to make sure its all in place and doesnt have any rips/cracksTHird place..fresh air intake seals. This one might be really tough to get to. With a flashlight look up behind the glove box. You should see a plastic duct with a rubber seal around it. Check it for any wetness...if its wet, you might need a new seal. Its also possible that the seal is just fine and still leaked, its not normal for a high pressure stream of water to hit that seal. Might be best to wait and see if it hapens diring normal use.
