This is a great car, but I have a few thoughts at random...Bear with me, because this is the stuff I would go back and tell myself if I could pop in a time machine to my purchase day. I ended up with an EX 5-speed coupe.1) You will be thrilled with the reliability of this car. There have been two issues (gas pedal mount and an airbag light) that popped up on this car, and Honda automatically issued bulletins and fixed them for free during my first oil change, which is typical Honda.2) If you drive gently (though not necessarily slowly), avoiding jackrabbit starts, not blasting the a/c all the time, etc. you'll discover that this car gets about 35 mpg in town (the EPA says 30) and you'll experience a special kind of pleasure when you're filling up next to an SUV sucking in a hundred bucks worth of premium fuel at the gas station.3) Consider, if your budget will allow it, getting the EX trim level instead of the LX. For your money, you'll get the sunroof (which makes the car feel way roomier, and like a much nicer car), the really nice wheels (which really sharpen up the whole look of the car), and disc rather than drum brakes in the rear (they perform at champion level for stopping ability). The car will be worth a BUNCH (almost as much extra as you spent when new) extra when you go to sell the car as an EX, so you'll get your investment back. Since this is such a reliable car, you'll likely keep it for a long time and you'll get lots of enjoyment out of the extras.4) There are two dealer add-on options that are worth considering, and potentially great final freebies ("OK, I'll pay that if you'll throw in this one thing") after you reach the price you want at negotiation time. The first is the electrochromatic rearview mirror with the built in compass...This fancy gizmo has an LCD screen sandwiched into the glass on the mirror, and will automatically "tint" itself to exactly the right level when you're driving at night, allowing you to see clearly and without glare at all times. Once you have one of these mirrors, you'll wonder what you ever did without one. The second dealer add-on, which was not available when I bought mine last October is the iPod adapter. This allows you to plug in your iPod in the glove box, keep it fully charged, and control the music from the radio on the dashboard. Having this means that you never have to screw around with CD's in the car again, and is like having a satellite radio station (without paying for it) that you programmed yourself.5) If you're going on Saturday, make sure you go early. If you catch them when they've just opened, they'll have just finished up their Saturday morning "sales rally" and will be hungry to make a deal so that they can get you out of there with a car on what is traditionally their busiest day. You'll find that they're very motivated first thing in the morning.6) Make sure you've played around with the "build your own" feature on the Honda website (click on the blue link I left you in the source box below) so that you have a good working knowledge of the car in its various configurations and prices for them, as well as a grasp on the colors you like. You've picked a very very good car. I hope you enjoy your new Honda.
