It's kind of tough to answer this question without more information. In particular it would help to know: How much do you want to spend? Does the car have to be a new car? How many miles per year do you drive? What are the most important features of the car?To me, when considering a small car, safety has to come first. The 2006 Civics come with Antilock Brakes, front-row side airbags, and side-curtain airbags as standard equipment even on the base DX. The 2007 Fit also comes standard with Antilock Brakes, front-row side airbags, and side-curtain airbags. However the 2006 Civic has been tested by the Insurence Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) and has received the highest rating ("Good") for both front-offset and side-impact tests. The IIHS hasn't yet published any test results for the Fit.Appearance is a personal thing, and you'll have to make your own choice. However, I think the Civic looks great - one of the best looking compact cars ever made. The Fit looks very odd. Just considering safety and appearance alone, I declare the 2006 Civic the easy winner. The difficult decision to be made is Sedan vs. Coupe. The Coupe looks a little better, but getting things in and out of the backseat becomes such a pain with a coupe; I'm single and live alone, but the backseat is used all the time as extra cargo space. I would choose a 2006 Civic Sedan and would seriously consider the Hybrid.I currently own a 2005 Honda Accord EXL with a 2.4 Liter engine and automatic transmission, and I love it.
