I currently own a 1998 Honda Civic LX, 4 door, automatic transmission. I am wanting to either drop a B18 or B20 engine into my car and KEEP my automatic transmission. My fiance will be doing the engine swap, but he just has not done one like this ever before (he is a mechanic) nor has he ever seen one done like this. I call it a "Frankenstein Swap" lol. Anyway, I KNOW this engine swap is possible, although it will be difficult. Even if my fiance has to custom build some engine mounts. I would love input/opinions from anyone, but just know it will be done!Oh, and just in case you are wondering, I want to keep my Automatic transmission because I like it better than manual and you don't see an automatic transmission Honda that is customized that often, so it will be an original.Oh that is just the beginning of my car's mods....

If you go with any b-series engine, you cannot keep your current transmission (from a d-series I'm assuming). You need to find a b-series auto tranny (for example, from an Integra LS) it will bolt right up. You will never get as much power from a Honda automatic transmission. There is a reason that 'customized' Hondas don't have auto trannys. If you are looking for more power then get a B18. I don't think it's worth the downtime/money if you have a 4-door (heavy) car with an auto tranny though. Anything's possible and it probably has been done before. Just make sure you research the crap out of it before you do anything.

Go to Honda Tech on the net. they have so many answers that it will take you days to get through them all. If someone there cant tell you then its probably to hard to make it worth while.
