Default Would you buy this new vehicle if you knew before you purchased it, it will need repairs?

2000 Honda Passport at the cost of $21,000.00 in the year 2000Repairs needed: 1) Transmission (replace) continue noise when breaking (three more times) problem continues.2) Check engine light on (two times)

So what if it cost 21,000 when new its not worth that now. makes no difference what the new price was. What do you mean by transmission (replace) continue noise when breaking (three more times) problem continues? You replaced the transmission 3 times? If that's so then whats wrong with all the transmissions? Is someone driving 110 in low gear lol.Check engine light might be nothing more than a bad sensor.

I would not buy it for $1000 even if it did not have this bad historyI drove one someday and it seemed like i'm driving a mountain bike (the old mountain bikes that have no chocks). I love Honda's but this one I don't knoe why they made it and it does not look like a 2000 car it looks older

Look elsewhere this is actually not even a Honda its an Isuzu Rodeo with Honda badging.I dont know what the asking price is but it sounds too much like a headache to me.Go for a Honda Crv or a Toyota Rav 4.They are much more reliable than an Isuzu.

It sounds like you already own this vehicle and are wondering if anybody would buy such a thing with these problems...If you bought this car new in 2000 and has any warranty let at all, I would pursue the dealership heavily. If the problem persists, I would investigate your state's "Lemon Laws" which might get you some relief for notorius problems the dealer cannot seem to fix.If you want specific help on a certain problem you are having with your transmission when braking, you will have to get much more specific. Chances are, you haven't been the only one with this problem! A complete transmission overhaul would set you back around $1500. If the price of the car was low enough to figure in this overhaul, yes... I would consider buying the vehicle. I lilke buying things cheap when I know how to get the problems fixed. The check engine light is related to the emission controls equipment. It comes on when a component associated with emission controls fails. Coming on twice for the same thing points us in one direction, coming on for two different things points us elsewhere. Again, you have to be more specific. If it keeps coming on because of an Oxygen Sensor failure, it wouldn't suprise me to find out that whoever is working on your car is using some form of silicone lubricant... I've heard that silcone products destroys oxygen sensors. So, to answer your question... I would find out what a 2000 Honda Passport is worth in a private sale by going to www.kbb.com. Then I would take that figure and discount it $500 to $1000 to make it a good deal. Then, I would assess how much it would cost to fix each problem and subtract that from the total. I would forward any and all information to perspective buyers and let them make the choice. If the repairs exceed the value of the vehicle, it's time to donate it to your local charity.Good luck!
