Default 01Honda Civic, replaced lost gas cap, emissions light still on after 20 hours - what to do now?

Just wait? When the light came on, the gas cap had already been missing for about 32 hours (and in those hours a lot of driving was done). Put gas cap on after that and it's been about 20 hours and the light still hasn't gone off. I've even added more gas to my tank to see if that would help? I'm trying to avoid going to the dealer. Anyone have any ideas?

Give it a couple of days. Refill the tank at least once. My van (not a Honda) takes 4-5 days for that stupid light to shut off. My wife's strategy for sticking me with buying all the gas.

Wait longer, the error code is probably in there still. However, I don't know much about Hondas, and whether you HAVE to clear the error code or not. It's a shame that it took 32 hours for the light to come on in the first place...!

Reset the llight by taking the cable off the battery for just a second or two then replace the cable and no light will show, maybe.

You need to remove the battery cables for at least 10 minutes or use a scan tool to reset the computer.

You should go to autozone they will scan your cars computer for a code that tells why the light is on, and they do it for free.
