This depends on your price range, preferences (power, comfort, luxuries, quality, etc.).There are several websites like edmunds.com and driving.ca that have search functions allowing you to find the car for you. Try one of those sites where you can pick and compare cars. Everybody here will have a differing opinion.

Most any newer car is decent. Car quality has come a long way in the last 15 years. The cars from the late '80s weren't very good. The worst car today will likely be better than the best car from then. Check the value and then run a carfax report on the car you buy. If possible have the seller give you a warranty.

I am married with 2 small children, and in 2004 I bought a Honda Element. I really recommend this compact SUV crossover. It is basically a Honda Accord stretched up. It is real roomy, and very easy to drive. The rear seats are removable and/ or fold up on the sides. You are also up high and can see everybody else on the road, but you don't have to step up to the seats. My elderly parents have no trouble at all getting in.I use it for a daily driver & going on trips with the family. One drawback is it only will seat 4 people, but If your looking to drive many people, your looking for a Mini-van or a full size SUV anyway. It is a very safe and well builtl. Its a Honda!Test drive one to at least compare it to a mid-size car. They are in the same price range.

Accord is best mid size car in the sedan. And Civic is also best mid size car too. Both Accord and Civic are ranked top three of best selling car in America. Top Three are Toyota Camry, Honda Accord, and Honda Civic.
