About 350.00 because they have to go under the engine. The labor is what costs. The darn belt only costs 29.99.

depends where you have the work done...around $350 at the local shop to about $600 at a Honda dealership. It's the labor that will cost you. Also, since the belt replacement you might think about having the internal water pump, crankshaft seal (which a good repair shop will do) replaced, and camshaft replaced (again, a good shop will check the wear on the camshaft). It will be more money but well worth it. The cost of replacing the timing belt is small money compared to the possible costs if the timing belt should fail and damage the engine.

I used to be a Honda technician. It was $229 for 4 cylinder timing belts for the belt only. We would want to replace the timing belt, water pump and drive belts at the same time to save the customer time and money (and save us a headache), whole job cost just over $400 (this was in 2003).

make sure you replace the water pump while they're in there. it's very common to do these services together to save labor cost. they go out at the same time anyway
