Default What would cause the drive plate on a 92 honda accord lx keep breaking? 2.2 auto?

New torque convertor, tune-up. keeps breaking the drive plate about every 400 - 1200 miles.

Has the driveplate been ligned up correctly and is joint locking compound used on the bolts securing it,if not it might loosen and come slightly adrift.

The drive plate is a type of coupler between the engine and transmission. It is commonly called a flex plate. It can take a certain amount of flex but it has to be minimal. Vibration or misalignment will cause it to break. Check the surfaces of the engine and transmission for burrs or foreign material. If there are alignment pins, make sure they are clean and free of corrosion. You can put some grease or antisieze compound on them to prevent this and help them seat better. A bad harmonic balancer at the front of the engine can cause transient vibrations that will affect it. Improper installation may also cause failure. There could be a problem with the starter too. Is it the proper one for the car and is it shimmed properly. Just a few things that came to mind.
