Dose anyone knows anything about Honda Insight Hybrid? Like the MPG, reliability, how dose the power thing work...do you have to plug it in an outlet to recharge? How long have they been in the market?

One thing I have heard, you will have to replace the power cells after about 3 to 4 years, and they cost about$3000 to $5000 to replace. Hope you save A LOT OF GAS!!!

ok, these aren't things i HEARD, but things that are actually true. the insight came out in 99 and was the first hybrid vehicle. you never have to plug it in, it charges its own batteries. it's a honda, so it's completely reliable. the batteries won't die in 3-5 years. the warranty on the battery, actually is 8 years, or 80,000 miles, even then, they might not need replaced. and, it's not that much to replace the batteries, either.

Whatever I know is based on the upcoming 2010 Honda Insight.

The 2010 Insight is equipped with an Integrated Motor Assist, or IMA. The IMA works with the engine to contribute up to 13hp and as a generator which captures kinetic energy to recharge your battery while you drive. To my knowledge, there is no "charging" involved.

I thought the price was going to be around $18000 as Honda officials previously announced so that american consumer can afford this car rather than paying high premiums for a hybrid like prius.

You're right - according to the sales department where I work at Honda, the Insight is going to be the cheapest hybrid on the market. Its actually set between two categories in regards to price range - just under the hybrids and over another category so that the car is a competitive option to people who are interested in both.
