Default Can you put a 1989 Honda accord engine and transmission into a 1991 Honda accord body frame?

I have a wrecked honda accord with engine miles that are low and I want to pay a buddy to transfer the engine and transmission into another honda accord with a non wrecked body. I want to know if the model I buy will configure to the body style I need.

I believe that you can.. but it maybe a waste of time because the 89's came with under or close to 90hp and the 91's came with a lil more and they are a few changes, I woulndn't personally do that but I think I would fit perfectly!!

If you have a JDM 89 Accord, then YES, but odds are that you don't so the answer is NO.Why? The 89 had the flip-up headlights, a weaker and competely different engine and transmission. The 90-93 Accords were competely redesigned and had a FI 2.2L I4 of anywhere from 125 to 140 horse under the engine code of F22 (a Prelude H22 or H23 VTEC could even be put into a 90-93 Accord with little modification, and has been done dozens of times).Your best bet would be to ditch the 89 and go with a the 91. Even though the 91 has the annoying automatic seatbelts, it has a wider wheelbase and is a far safer car, has better performance, and more european handling than the 89 does... not to mention it gets almost 30mpg on the highway. A complete engine/tranny drivetrain F22A1 (90-93 DX, LX, 90-91 EX) can be had for well under $1K at most salvage yards.A great source for 90-93 Accord parts, performance, information, and anything you may need is at www.cb7tuner.com.Take care.
