Well, the negotiated price for the car should be about $17500 or close to that. When you include tax and license, it adds about another $1,650.This would take your out the door price at $19,150. From there, it's just a matter of wfinding out how much money you can put down, or what you can get from a trade in. There are tons of calculators online that will let you enter different amounts for down payment, interest rates and payment terms and can show you your estimated monthly payments. Don't be afraid to shop around and don't feel like you have to negotiate with a particular dealer if you don't feel comfortable with their terms. I did a lot of research online and visited 3 dealers before i bought my last car. See the website below. Good luck with your search.

First, a good out the door price is what you buy the car for and at which you feel like you've gotten a good deal and a fair price. As far as actual numbers, the MSRP on the 2006 Civic LX is $17,510. Right now it is unlikely that you will get a Civic for less than MSRP. In certain parts of the country you will be lucky to get it for MSRP. There are a number of dealerships that are charging $1000 or more over sticker for Civics of any trim level (DX, LX, EX, etc.). Out the door price after the "negotiated" (and it's unlikely to be negotiable) price is variable depending on how your state/county does taxes/tags/licenses. The MSRP is the place to start. Also, something to consider is the documentation/processing/etc. fees. Dealers add $100-$500 on the deal (not all dealers though). As you know, if you are interested in buying a Civic, they get very good gas mileage. (30 city, 40 highway). With gas prices as they are everybody wants Civics, and other fuel efficient cars. I work for a dealership in Mississippi and last week there were 5 Civics on the ground in the state and they were all sold already. All the Civics that our dealership is getting through the end of the summer are already sold!
