DATSUN210 had the right idea. However, H22's are expensive, & not that easy of a swap since they are/were more commonly found in the late model Preludes & what not & will require you changing out your motor mounts. However they really do give you more bang for your buck- ie: tons of horse power, great engines for boosting if you decide you want to add a turbo or what not later on. But still, require a ton of mods to your engine compartment. ie: changing out the motor mounts, wire harness, ECU harness- all a real b*tch. So if easy is what you're looking for, the H22 definitly is NOT the way to go. Way to much time, work & $$$.Anyway, you're better off sticking w/finding either a b16a 2 or 3, d16z6 or b18c5- all of these are direct swaps that won't require you to change out mounts. Also, if you're looking for a little more power, all your B-series motors are DOHC. (duel over head cams) You can usually find these engines in 92-96 Civic EX's & Si's. Also, don't forget, if you're putting in VTEC into a hatch that was previously non-VTEC, you're going to have to replace your ECU w/a new one, or you'll never be able to get the benifits of using VTEC. And while you're add it, have it programed to have VTEC kick in around 4500-5000 RPMs, since the original factory settings don't have them kicking in until around 5500, if you wanna get the full effect. You can find rebuilt engines on ebay & other Honda tuning dedicated sites.
