Default i have a 99 civic siR but it only raps out at 6500 rpm whats wrong?

It probably has rev limiting programmed into the computer. When the computer detects that RPM it cuts the fuel so you don't destroy your engine.

could be a rev limiter, could be plugged exhaust causing back pressure, could be all sorts of things I suppose... see your mechanic.

If I remember correctly, the redline on those specific cars is around 8,200 rpm, right? Maybe you have a problem with the VTEC Solniod. I'd take it to a dealer if I were you.

Mat be you rev-ed it too high and know your cars computer is reading a knock which would also not let your engine rev to its limit.

i presume its a japanese import all of which are limited to 6500 revs from my experience its injector limited this problem is linked to the ecu if you were to get the limiter taken off of (not an easy task) it you would need new seals or you would . blow that engine if you get new seal after you get the limiter taken off then you have the freedom of 8200 revs
