Default I have a 1992 Honda accord ex that has a major oil leak that is running out of timing belt cover?

This started all at once nothing was done to cause leak.it will loose 4 Quarts of oil in less than 30 miles.is this a major repair, and does the timing belt and balancer belt need to be replaced also.the car has 165,000 miles on it and the timing belts were replaced at 100,000 miles .just wondering how costly it will be to repair ?

No unlike American cars , Hondas last forever dont you remember? Just open the glove box and press the Oil Leak out of the Timing Belt Cover Button and I am sure that will fix it. lol , Ford taurus with 107,000 trouble free miles and lots of life left.

the belts will have to come off to make the repair, they are the least of your worries as far as money goes. if the problem goes any deeper than the cam or crank seals it will get high real fast, add about 100 to your reciept for getting the cam belts done and that should be close.

That is a main seal not a super serious problem and not to hard to fix.The part is dead cheap about £5 (not including a new timing cover gasket. The real pain is in an over head cam engine resetting the timing if the belt is one tooth off the car won't run right or may just not start at all.To re-seat the new seal just set in evenly and tap it in with a block of wood and a dead stop mallet.Be gentle go slow or buy a couple seals and practice with the first one to get the feel for it.
