My fiancé and I are very much interested in purchasing an Insight, but were disappointed to find out that no dealerships have any in stock: it's an order only car. We know better than to buy a car without test-driving it first, or at least checking it out in person. Our main concern is blind spots.Since no dealerships even have an Insight on the showroom floor to check out, and no car rental business in the area stocks them, than our best bet at this point would be to browse local parking lots and if we find one, wait patiently for the owner to return and ask him/her real nicely if we can sit inside. This method of course, is impractical.Does anyone know of anywhere my fiancé and I could go to examine an Insight in person, or does anyone live in the East Bay area of California near Walnut Creek, Concord and/or Pleasant Hill that owns an Insight and would be nice enough to let us check it out?

I WORK FOR A HONDA DEALERSHIP AND I CAN SAY THAT THERE ARE BETTER HYBRIDS FOR SALE NOW. THE INSIGHT WAS HONDA'S "SCIENCE PROJECT" CAR FOR AWHILE. ITS DREADFULLY IMPRACTICAL, SLOWER THAN A TURTLE, AND DIDN'T EVEN GIVE THE MPG THAT IT ADVERTISED! I'D LOOK FOR A CIVIC HYBRID, A TOYOTA PRIUS, OR EVEN A VOLKSWAGEN JETTA TDI DIESEL, WHICH BEATS ALL OF THEM, EXCEPT NO ONE REALIZED IT!

I have a 2001 5 speed with 56000 miles I bought used. Am getting 75mpg driving 60mph very carefully. The car "teaches" you how to save gas. At 70-75 mph I get 60 mpg. I am comfortable in it at 6 feet 280 pounds unlike other Japanese cars. Stereo speakers no good. Quiet engine and wind noise. Lots of road noise. Steers and feels like a Honda except it wanders more and rides like a truck. Has more power (when revved) than my 1982 1.5L Corolla or any VW Beetle. Which means adequate. Not a lot of cargo room but enough for me. A good 2 seat commuter car. I love mine. Hard to find. Usually have to order with a 3 month wait. Check e-bay or other online car places. E-mail me if you want to check the car out. I am in Sunnyvale and Minden, NV. See www.insightcentral.net
