You were told incorrectly, the best gas is what is in the owners manual, putting higher octane won't do anything for saving gas mileage. Check your owners manual.

In my experience, the higher the octane rating for the gasoline, the cleaner the engine will burn...the cleaner it burns, the better your performance, erego, you will end up with better mileage in the long run, BUT...the 87 octane rating will not hurt your vehicle, and with todays gas prices ($3.20 / 9/10 a gallon or more here), you will save some money with the 87. My personal opinion...use the 89 octane....midway between the two, and a little cheaper than the 93.

B.S. 87 is just fine at any mileage.

Well, a 93 car is already old enough to try to keep the engine new. I would reccomend the 87, plus its the cheaper and will work great for a car that old.

They advise an octane for a reason. If you want your gas to work better have the valve lash checked and reset. That should help you get back to that "new" gas millage.

you should stick with the 87 octane, i have the same car and it runs like crap with the higher octane. besides you actually get worse fuel milage with the higer octane because of the way it burns, it has a high flash point so it takes more of it. but i would also put in a fuel injection cleaner because we have such poor fuel around here.

In my opinion you should try using the 89 octane. It will not improve you miles per gallon but it will give your engine a little kick. To keep your 93 running good I recommend getting your spark plugs change and the air filter that make a difference in my 96 accord. Also check the air in your tires.
