Default 1996 Honda Accord 4 cylinder, 16V. Timing belt, spark plugs, fuel filter, battery all fine. Car...

...wouldnt start. I wanted to start my car in the afternoon and it would not start. (I turned it on to move it 2 feet earlier that day.) Fuel filter, battery, spark plugs, timing belt (25k miles since I changed it) were fine. I later found it was low, but not empty on oil. I was wondering if it has a sensor that will stop the car from turning on if the oil is dangerously low? After checking the things previously mentioned, I checked the oil, but thinking it could not be the problem. The oil was dangerously low, but not empty. I then filled it with oil and it finally turned on. Why did this happen? That was the only problem found. The oil was low, the car did not want to start. After filling it with oil, the car started again. PLEASE ELABORATE. ANSWER IN COMPLETE SENTENCES. THANK YOU

Ask in complete sentences. The oil pressure switch in most cars will cut out the ignition to prevent major damage tot he engine. Check your oil once in a while. If it is dangerously low, you probably haven't change the oil in a while. Hondas tend to burn very minimal oil. There is a reason they call the warning lights on your dash board "idiot lights"

Well it may not be th fact that the oil was low. Does it even turn over? If it does turn over but not start then yes it may be the oil pressure. But if all it does is click or even less than that...then it sounds to me like you may have a starter or a starter relay going out. Is it a manual or automatic? If its a Manual it could also be the clutch safety switch is going bad.

Well I'm not really sure but your car may have some kind of sensor on it that wont let it start unless it has the right amount of fluids or something. sorry i cant be more of help.

Sense you did not state whether the engine turned over but would not start or if it just sat there, I'm going to answer as if it would turn over. Many cars will not start activating the fuel injectors or fuel pump until oil pressure is reached. If the car was very low on oil pressure would be very difficult to attain. The car would no reason to send fuel to the combustion chamber even if the starter was going. Hondas are rock solid cars, but the high performance engines in these cars do not deal with low oil the way an old Chevy or Olds would. They will start to make sludge very early in the neglect process. An oil change after adding a sludge thinner, Marvel Mystery Oil, is in order ASAP.

I don't know about the oil thing there (but you should keep it full to the mark or top dot on the dip stick) My guess is is bad or cheap gas that has water in it if this is the case you should avoid those off the wall no major name gas stations but if you must go there ad a bottle of stp or something that will remove water from the fuel lines. go ahead and add some now and if you get it started again you need to drive that bad boy and go to bp for example.

during the summer honda has a problem with there main relay. when the inside heats up the relay wont start the car. but if you open the doors up and let the breeze blow through it will cool it off and then you should be able to start your car. the relay cuts off fuel pump and spark plugs, so i would try that. they usally run around $60 and located under your steering wheel.
