Default How many miles are too many if buying a 1999-2000 Honda minivan?

Looking to buy a used minivan and was told Honda's run "forever".

Depends mostly on what you want to spend. A higher mile Honda is still going to hold more value than a GM or Ford so you will pay more. But the average miles for a 1999 to 2000 would be from 70,000 to 80,000 miles for those years. I would not be afraid to buy one with that amount of miles or more. I really wouldn't go over 100,000 if I didn't have to. It's just one of those milestones.

normal wear for all cars is typically 10K per year. Take $1000 of the price for each 10K miles over this and you should be safe.

I have 83,000 miles on my 2000 minivan, so I'd consider that to be average to low. I, too, have heard Hondas and Toyotas "run forever" but no vehicle is guaranteed to of course. Make sure you check www.kbb.com to see what it's worth before buying.

well, it depend on the if the van mostly been driven in the city or hwy? like my car mostly driven on the hwy so for me to have 147K miles on my car is normal. if the van was driven in city for 99 and 00 I well say some where about 70K to 80K miles will be OK, if it is hwy I will say between 80K to 100K will be OK. on the other hand don't always go by how many miles on the car, make sure the last guy who ever had the van know how to keep up the maintains on the car. For example, my car has 147K on it, but I maintain really good on the car and it run like a new even thought I have all those miles on it. also goes around talk to some of the peoples in the dealer, they will let you know if it is worth to buy it or not. also talk to your insurance to make sure that the van does not have any major accident or other major work on the van. good luck.
