Fill your car up. Set your trip odometer to zero on you dash. It usually has a knob you can push to make it go to zero. Drive it as you usually would, and fill up as you normally would. Devide the number of gallons you put in at your fill up into the number of miles you have driven on you trip odometer. If you have driven 240 miles and it takes 8 gallons to fill your car back up then you are getting 30 miles to the gallon. 240 devided by 8 is 30.

fill up your tank, clock your miles say 150,fill up again, divide cost eg 16.50 by miles 11 x by 4.5 litres =49.5 miles to gallon if mileage is low drive slower and put right air in tyres

Fill your tank up. Write down the mileage. Drive normal. Next time you fill up, divide how many gallons you had to put in by how many miles you have driven. This is your mpg. Remember you will get better gas mileage when driving highway rather than around town. You will also get better mileage driving between 60-70 mph rather than over 70. Make sure your tires are properly inflated this will help you get better mileage too. I attached a web site that shows many things you can do to help.

Mattsource is correct. You must fill your tank as full as possible and zero your trip-meter. Drive around normally until you are ALMOST out of fuel, then refill your tank at the same pump, make a note of the exact amount of fuel used to refill it also note the exact mileage. Then divide the miles by the gallons and you will have your m.p.g. DON'T rely on the handbook for tank size as they are approximates and don't rely on the fuel gauge as it is only a gauge not a meter. Racerman --> Ex Chief Mechanic Honda UK LTD

Fill the tank up completely and reset your mileometer. Drive the car until you need to fill up again. Fill the tank again and make a note of your mileometer reading. Check the receipt for the fuel you have just purchased (they usually show the amount of fuel in litres you have purchased), (to convert litres to gallons divide the litres by 4.5461 this will give you the amount of fuel in gallons). Now simply divide the mileometer reading by the gallons used to give you your m.p.g.

use your gas till it is all the way on e. when you fill it up take note of how many gallons it is to fill it up and reset your trip meeter. when you are almost on e again you should see how many miles you went. divide the miles by your gallons and do it a few times to get the gas mileage.

It does 28mpg cold or in traffic, 33mpg hot or on the open road. On really long trops like across the whole width of Ireland non-stop you may get 35mpgHere is the proof.Fill the tank to the very top and zero the trip. Drive about 25 miles and call in the next filling station. Top up the tank. It will take a about a gallon and your trip will read about 30. After that you can get as technical as you like
