Default two questions about 98 Civic LX?

There's a button on the left kicker panel in the drivers side of my 98 Civic LX. It looks almost like the type of button to reset a meter of some sort. I don't want to push it unless I know what it does. Also where's my oil filter? I don't have the owner's manuel, and I need to change the oil. I found the oil drain plug, but not the filter.
