Default What is the best way to increase performance and horsepower? Cheapest?

I have a 1996 Honda del Sol S. I have already installed a free flow exhaust system and intake. What is the next step? Money is a concern...

what u have done is pretty much enough.most motorbikes are designed for optimum performance by the manufacturer.any additional costs for increasing the performance are pretty much not cost effective and expensive; moreover the performance does not increase in direct proportion to the money spent, i.e. more and more money spent= increase in performance less and less.

Port and relieve the engine. This, along with your free flow Exhaust will improve your breathing and increase your power, speed, MPG and there is NO bad news here. Everything here is good for the engine

Invest in your own driving skills. There are many great driving schools around the country and SCCA has many events for amateur drivers. One ride with a professional driver in even a modest car will make it clear that the biggest bottleneck in your car's performance is yourself.

if you shop around, some companies have products at lower prices than others. another thing you could do is get parts used although the reliability will defenitally be questionable. turbos and superchargers and ecus tend to give the largest power increase, but cost large amounts. if you soup up the transmission, you can gain more power to the wheels even though the engine stays the same. another thing to do is tune it. increase the fuel flow and air flow so long as the compression does not get too high or you will blow your engine. fuel systems are cheap to modify and effective. here are some helpful sitescardomain.comandysautosport.comhksusa.comaem. com

You've done the right thing power-wise, anything else will not really be cost efficient. You could lower the whole car with some new lowering springs, not too expensive and improves handling no end, the ride is firmer so I hope you have good quality roads. Brakes too are a worth-while upgrade...
