Default Is it true that Japanese brand cars are far more better than American brand cars, in terms of...

...quality? 'Coz it just made me wonder why Japanese cars are everywhere in the US, but when I went to Japan, I wasn't able to spot a single American car out there.

You're really asking two different questions. First, it's true that Japanese cars are far better than American cars in terms of quality - and in terms of design. Consumer Reports' just released their best cars issue for 2006 - Japanese cars hold ALL the top ten spots (first time ever without American car in top ten), and the top of each category.Second question is why there is no production of US autos in Japan. That's because Japan protects its domestic markets by making it so expensive for US automakers to import parts that there can be virtually no market for US cars in Japan.

not necessarily. it depends on what kind of car we're talkin about. for example i don't think 92 accords can run better than 99 mustangs

it depend on what you are looking for. japanese made car are suppose to be fuel economcy. but it also mean that their metal is not as hard as those amercian made one. contintent car last longer unlike japanese cars in terms of all the parts. like brakes pad, timing belt etc. Japanese made car are also cheaper to begin with. i guess the reason why you hardly see a american car in japan becos the living standard in japan is very high. it is very hard for ppl to maintain cars which is why they go for more japanese made car cos it is cheaper. like wise where i stay, there are more jap cars then contintent car.

i think it is true. i have a 20 year old honda that i know has not been regularly maintained, yet it still runs better than many of the american cars that are far younger than it.

lol, most american cars are too big for japanese streets, plus american cars in japan will be imports, so they'll cost more. there arent too many ppl who would pay for an inferior import when their domestic vehicles are so much better.
