technically no it is actually driven off of the crankshaft so as long as the timing belt is on the car and the car runs the oil pump is working.

yes, the oil pump is driven off the t-belt. it is the pulley next to the crankshaft pulley, to the right. there is 2 t-belts on this eng., the smaller belt drives the balance shaft.
