Good place to start is http://www.edmunds.com/. Look under TMV price, they always show MSRP (recommended price) and invoice (what actually dealer pays for this car):2006 Honda CivicLX 4dr Sedan (1.8L 4cyl 5A)MSRP $17,310Invoice $15,825Also check current incentives and rebates (none at this time). The respectable dealer will show you invoice and tell what is his markup (for this car I would expect $300-$500).

I always go to carsdirect.comYou can customize with options, and see what they are offering in addition to getting the Invoice price.

I would go to www.edmunds.com or www.nada.org get the local prices and pursue a dealer having this information. If you are serious about it then I would suggest getting edmunds premiums service and follow their guide. It's worth it. Note on the side: Get a Honda; and don't buy any hybrid - the technology is still new and the relative costs of installing batteries in the coming years will make your investment in a Hybrid not worth it.
