Default 1999 Honda CRV does not start. Cranks but does not turn over.?

I'm working on a friends 1999 Honda CRV. I replaced spark plugs and the battery. The alternator was also replaced. Checked all fuses and replaced with new ones even tho they were not burned out I changed them. I smell gas and hear fuel pump when starts. Spark plugs does spark and coil pack is new. The lady that owns it told me it died while she was driving and has not stared since then. She had the timing belt replaced and it still did not turn over. I took over the job and noticed battery was old and replaced it. I then tried cranking the engine, the crank turned and turned but did nothing then the battery light came on as I was turning the key. Replaced alternator then. It seem to spin faster but not turned over. Starter is fine it has power going to it and is turning the engine over but it won't start. What next?

I replaced the spark plugs because they were dirty, the wires and the coils were replaced by the previous owner before she bought it. She had the car for a year and this happened. Never had any other problems.

What does the code reader say is wrong? Unless you have pulled the codes from the OBD port you are just wasting your time and the owners money.

As for replacing the alternator because the battery light came on while cranking the car was a total waste. The alternator does nothing at all until after the engine is running and cannot be diagnosed until the engine runs. The field coil in an alternator is not even engineered until after the vehicle starts.

This tells me that you actually do not know enough about modern vehicles and this job needs to go to a pro now.

At this stage is is likely one of the sensors. Like a crankshaft or cam shaft sensor. Maybe the air flow. Or maybe the fuel pump is not being energized. The answer will be stored in the engine control module and a quick reading if the codes will likely tell you the exact issue.
