Default 94 honda accord car troubles. Help!!?

My car died out on me yesterday. It would start but only for a second then die. Now it won't even do that. I had someone look at it and narrowed it down to fuel pump, fuel filter or map Sensor. I was told to change them one by one starting with the map sensor but id rather not waste time and money on something that don't need fixed. is there an easy way to find out which of the 3 it is?

One test you can do if you don't have a fuel pressure gauge put the key in the run position and go to the back of the car listen for the fuel pump it should be making noise if it's working. If no noise check the fuel pump fuse and fuel pump relay first.Another thing you can do is try to turn the engine over a few times but not for longer then 10 seconds at a time and take a bit of a brake between each starting attempt. Then open the hood there should be a smell of gas around the air filter and fuel rail. This would tell you that gas is reaching the fuel rail but it doesn't tell you if the fuel pressure is correct.Try spraying some quick start into the throttle body.If the car starts up and then dies you know the problem is fuel related.

You should make sure that the battery is fully charged and you may want to pop it out and take it to a parts store or shop to get it tested. Also you could buy a new map sensor just to compare the ohm readings on the old map sensor to the new map sensor.Remember that you have you unplug the old map sensor to test it and you can always bring the new map sensor back as long as you haven't installed it.

Hope that helps and best of luck.By the way having a factory service manual to trouble shoot the problem bec it will have a no start condition trouble shooting chart. Here's a link to a site that you can download one for free.
