Default 1997 Honda civic help?

WOULD A 1997 HONDA CIVIC HAVE A THROTTLE CABLE CONNECTED TO THE THROTTLE BODY OR NOT ? I tried looking but it does not look like it

Could a dirty throttle body cause the gas pedal to feel stiff making car jerk forward pressing on gas pedal?

There is a hidden recall on the civics for rough or notchy throttle when pushed. Check with your local dealer for recall campaign #99I00200

If you've the same engine as my car the 1.6 the throttle cable can be seen attached via a bracket and a bolt to the engine.Look around the engine where the timing belt etc is you should see the cable being held firmly by it's mounting bracket. If you follow the cable you will see where it has a adjustment to set the cable.

Sometimes this cable can stick or be bent or in a position that is causing acceleration issues. You may want to to check with the Honda dealership service departments and give them the vehicle's Vin numbers off of your ownership, they can then check for any service bulletins or any factory recall related issues.

Hope that helps and best of luck.By the way you can spray the throttle assembly where you see the cable connect up to etc with some WD40 or a similar type of product.
