Default Tips on driving uphill with a Honda Fit Sport?

I recently began taking my Honda Fit Sport AT on backpacking trips in the mountains, and noticed that it struggles on the incline. Any tips on how to improve power during uphill driving? It doesn't have a "2" option like most cars.

I think it's pretty dumb of Honda to not include 2 or 3 on that car. I'd say your only option is stop the car, put it in Sport mode, and then keep the trans in 1st or 2nd gear.
