Default 2005 Honda Civic: Transmission issue!?

Here's the details:

I own a 2005 Honda Civic Special Edition Coupe (Standard transmission). 155,000km on it.

I just bought it from someone a week ago and noticed that when I'm in usually 1st or 2nd gear, there is a whirring/growling noise whenever I accelerate. The noise is not there when I'm in neutral or have the clutch pushed in, even if I rev the engine. Only makes a noise when I'm actually accelerating in one of the first couple gears.

I'm thinking it's a bearing of some sort but what do you think?

1-What is this?

2-How much does it cost to fix?

3-How important is it to fix in the near future?

Thanks!

Doesn't seem like the transmission but without being able to drive it its very hard to tell. You have to be able to feel it. A bearing usually sounds like a sort of vibrating/growling sounds, but you would also feel it when you drive, and feel it in the steering wheel, it would vibrate. To check if its the suspension of any type put it on a lift, and shake the tires back and forth, check underneath for anything lose or "out of place" if you hear that same noise, you know you have a problem with the suspension. If the transmission when shifting doesn't want to go into another gear, or it feels like it loses momentum for a moment and than "catches" momentum or regains torque, then there is most likely a transmission problem. But the thing is, with cars, its just so hard to tell unless you're actually driving it because that noise isn't specific enough to be considered one thing or the other indefinitely.
