Default What do I need to do to build up my engine?

I decided I want to fully build up my F22A1 engine and go all motor instead of going the forced induction route but I do not know where to start. I don't have any experience in engine building so if you can point me in the right direction, it would be much appreciated.

from what you say building an engine is totally beyond your capabilities, get professional advice as you could spend thousands preapring an engine that either doesn't work properly or fails emission tests , there are all kinds of tolerances and clearances to measure

As stated you need more knowledge before you ever start. Pick up a few books such as the latest edition of Motor's Automobile Truble Shooter, the Chilton book for your car, the Haynes manual for your car, and talk to people who do have knowledge of cars. Most of us are not going to hide things from people because we know its good for you to know have to do it yourself and know what tools you need. You can experiment too and if your luckey your engine will be fine but odds are you need a new block because you did something that caused you to throw a rod or you may burn a valve.

You need a technician's certificate.

An H22 swap would be good. But a fully built F22A1 will give you 11-12 seconds on the track. As you know, this is gonna get expensive. You can start off with the cheap & easy stuff first. Like port & polish the head, add some cam gears, cam shafts, crank shafts, high compression pistons, cold air intake with headers & exhaust.
