Default 2009 Honda Civic LX advice?

I'm turning 16 soon and my parents have been taking me to look for a car. There's a 2009 Honda Civic LX I'm interested in. Is there anything I need to know about it that the dealer might leave out? Is it a good, safe car? How is the gas mileage?
