Might be a cracked block or just an oil pan gasket but the big problem is that it was running with no oil and overheated. That can kill an engine pretty fast.

The good news is that engines for those cars are really cheap. Ask for a quote from the mechanic for putting in a new one.

Another option, especially if its a good condition hatchback or coupe with a manual transmission, would be to sell the car as is to someone who wants to swap in a bigger engine anyways. A few years ago i bought a 95 hatch for $2500, blew the engine, and sold it as a roller for $2000.

good luck!

Cracked block or siezed motor. Time to rebuild the motor, replace it or shop for a new car.
