Default how do i know my brake fluid needs changing?

my 2004 civic has 200k miles on it and i have never done a brake fluid change. the brakes feel completely normal and the fluid level is still high. the color is a little darker than it should be.































do i need to do a fluid change? thanks

every 2 yrs or so the system should be thoroughly bled to remove moisture and to refresh fluid. yes you need it.

Every 3 years independent of milage is what honda recommends,

If it's 200,000 miles old, it needs changing. Put the old stuff in a glass jar and let it settle. Then you'll see how bad it really is.

Most major auto parts stores sell brake fluid test strips. Dunk them in the brake fluid and they change color. You compare the color of the strip to a chart and it tells you if you should change the brake fluid.































Brake fluid can become corrosive as it ages. You can not see this. The corrosive brake fluid can deteriorate brake lines and eat the seals in the brake system components.































But if the brake fluid is more than a few years old and is not clear, you don't need to test it to know it is bad. A little common sense should tell you this.































What other routine maintenance do you neglect on this car?
