Default How much should I offer on this car? 1980 honda civic hatch 25k miles?

The car is beautiful. Here's the craigslist listing:

I'd love to buy this car. It has 25,000 miles on it. I know this is a great find but I don't know a lot about cars. How much should I offer?

2013 minus 1980 = 33 years. Do you really believe this? There is something really wrong with this car. And you are gullible. I read the ad and know he has replaced a lot of stuff on this car.

Honestly, its kinda hard to believe that a 33 year old car could only have 25K miles on it. The car looks nice, but i would pay no more then $500.00 for it.

Sorry, but I agree with the others. Japanese cars are rarely collectible, the only exceptions being the Datsun Z series, Mazda RX7, and the Toyota Landcruiser. The old Civic with the 1300 was not a great engine or car. They rusted so fast because they used foam between fender and body, and it absorbed moisture instead of keeping it out. The crank was not rebuildable, so the engine was disposable. Nor is a 33 year old car trivial to maintain. Water has to condense in the gas tank, parts will be impossible, and all the plastic will be brittle and shrunken. It would be good for taking to shows, but just barely. I have to agree with the others that $500 is about all it is worth. I don't care about or believe the miles either.
