Default How do I get the hood on my 1998 Honda Accord to latch?

There is no tension on the wire to the hood release in the car. I have sprayed WD-40 on the latch under the hood but it will not lock in place. I even tried using a screw driver to force the latch down but it won't catch.

put tension on the hood release cable
