Default i just baught a 2001 honda civic with 72,500 miles on it. should i chance the timing belt and...

...water pump on it? since the car is a 2001 with only 72,500 miles should I wait a bit longer to do a timing/water belt kit or do it asap since I do not know if it has been done ever yet. it was a one owner car that was baught from auction that I got from a used dealer.

Absolutely. The change interval on the 2001 is 110,000 miles or 7 years. It is way overdue on the basis of time - rubber product, you know. Most sellers dump the car when the timing belt change is due.

whenever I buy a used car I ALWAYS change out:

Oil/oil filter

Timing belt

Water pump

Cv shafts

air filter

then I check tranny fluid and coolant (maybe flush it)

Some say it is unnecessary but this way I can keep track of when it was all last done... but then again I never buy a honda over 97
