Default What's the odd of getting a '98 accord w/ transmission issue?

I heard that year accord have common issues with one being the transmission slipping.

I'm tryna get one within a week for my first car. How many percent do they have the issue?

If the transmission slips then it 1 for 1 if not then it's 1 in a 100 or a 1000 or 10,000

Make sure that you find one that has had the transmission replaced already. Also, make sure that it is documented that it was replaced after 3/2005; Ones that were replaced prior to that were replaced witht he same transmission, so expect it to fail again.

Update: To Robert, the 1996 and 1998 Accords are completely different cars. Other than name, they have nothing in common.

Lets just put it this way. I have a 96 Honda Accord EX, I'm sure its the same model as yours just older. I went out of town to buy the car from a private party. Test drove it, it ran good, checked fluids, all good. On my way back on the interstate, the transmission locked up less than 30 minutes from my house. Now I have to invest another 1000 into getting the car I just bought just so I can get drive it again. I would get it but only if you know it has a good transmission and/or you have the money to fix it when the time comes that it goes out. Good cars otherwise.
