Default D16y7 with P1259 code when i test it?

Hello, i have a 98 Honda civic ex(i believe) with a d16y7 Engine, The check engine light is on and giving me a code for P1259 (V-Tec Malfunction) The engine is not a v-tec engine, how do i fix this?
